Bear Steins by Sea Bear Pots
The lovely Bear Steins are back! And look at those faces!
And now for some notes from the artist, himself:
These lovely little steins are different from the ones previously posted. You may be all "in what way are they different? I'm having trouble telling because the awesomeness is disrupting my senses." Well, I shall inform you! Most of my work up to this point has been wood fired. That is a grueling process where you stoke a kiln with wood for 16-24 hrs and melt wood on the pots. Pretty boring.
These new sexy electric pots are a different process entirely. You see, first you have to look at all these buttons! Then, with my BFA in fine arts in tow, I push all the correct buttons! This extremely exhaustive process can sometimes take a full minute. At the end of the crazy minute I push another button, and then! I take a nap until the kiln is ready to unload. Wild n' crazy stuff!
Seriously though, I have to get all sprayey with the glazes, and when something gets too wiggly I have to wash all my work off and start over, it is a huge pain in the tush, but is gives my work a stark quality unattainable from the wood firing, and it creates a foil to the crazy nature that exists on those pots by relying on technology rather than tree murder.
